Biography

Tim is an increasingly sought after instrumentalist, regularly plying across the U.K. and Europe. He has recently completed his undergraduate degree with Alexander Janiczek at the Guildhall School of Music in London, being awarded a Concert Recital Diploma, Ivan Sutton Chamber Prize and Lord Mayor’s Prize for the highest mark across the music department, and was subsequently invited to return as a Chamber Fellow.

Being born to two violinist parents, Tim began his musical training very young. From the age of 4 he attended the Royal Academy of Music, eventually winning all available prizes before leaving at 18. He was also a chorister at the Temple Choir in London, and was head chorister for his final two year there, recording disks for both Signum and Decca. 

From 2011 to 2014 Tim was a member of the Celan Quartet. Quartet in Residence at the 2014 Musikdorf Ernen Festival in Switzerland, the Celan Quartet was formed in 2011 with the support and inspiration of MusicWorks Chamber Courses. With the generous help from violist James Boyd, they were able to film and record Berg’s Quartet Op.3 at the Menuhin Hall, now released on CD. Since then they have appeared at many major festivals in Britain including Peasmarsh Festival, Cheltenham Festival, and two consecutive years of residency at the Wye Valley Festival in Wales. Although the quartet is now inactive, Tim regularly plays with the other members, Mathilde Milwidsky, Timothy Ridout and Tim Posner. 

Tim has attended the IMS Prussia Cove masterclasses since he turned 18, and was prompty invited to the IMS Open Chamber Music sessions that same year. He has been in the class of both Hungarian violinist András Keller and more recently cellist Steven Isserlis and David Waterman. In 2018 he was invited to play on the IMS Open Chamber Music Tour, a UK tour ending at the Wigmore Hall in London. 

Tim regularly appears in Europe's finest chamber festivals, appearing alongside artists such as Steven Isserlis, Lawrence Power, Alexi Kenney, Philippe Graffin, Amy Norrington, Alasdair Beatson, Bengt Forsberg, Timothy Ridout, Paolo Giacometti and others. He is a regular of many, including Musikdorf Ernen, IMS Prussia Cove, Lewes Chamber Festival, Wye Valley Chamber Festival, and looks forward to attending some for the first time this year, such as West Wycombe Chamber Festival and Festival Resonances. 

Tim is also very fortunate to have the opportunity to regularly play with Arcangelo, a leading ensemble comprised of players who excel on both historical and modern instruments, under the direction of founder and artistic director & conductor Jonathan Cohen. More recently, he has also been leading Collegium, a group set up by violist Lawrence Power, comprised of the best recent string graduates from the London music colleges.
